CELEBRATE BURLINGTON DAY August 7, 2010
Burlington Rotarian event chair Carrie Corliss and her husband Jeff did a great job again this year by erecting and managing the ever popular "Cash Booth" at the annual "Celebrate Burlington" day held on the Burlington town common. The booth was a popular success and a long line of kids waited eagerly to get inside it and try and catch as much paper money as possible as it whirled around them in the wind from a blower. BASEBALL FIELD DEDICATION
July 14, 2010
![]() Tom Flaherty was a much respected member of the Burlington community and a long time member of the Burlington Rotary Club. The town decided to name oneof the two newly constructed baseball fields at Simmonds Park in his honor. Tom passed away less than two months before "his field" was ready for play, but he enjoyed knowing that the field would be a long standing memorial to his dedication and good works. Shown above are members of his family and decendents watching as one of them throws the ceremonial first pitch prior to an exhibition softball game between a team composed of members of the two Burlington Rotary Clubs and another made up of members of the Burlington Recreation Department.

THANKSGIVING DINNERS
November 22, 2009
![]() The Burlington Rotary Club in cooperation with the Burlington Food Pantry, Shaw’s, and the UCC church, donated 149 turkey’s to the families in need in Burlington so they can enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. The local Cub Scout Troop 555 also raised enough money to purchase over 150 pies. Roberta Damelin, from the food pantry, also coordinates other food items such as squash, breads and other vegetables for the meal. There was a significant increase in the number of families helped, from 96 last year to 149 this year. Other members of the community also stepped up to help out. Joe Morandi of Morandi's Barber Shop donated extra turkeys, as did Carrie Corliss of Frameworks. The Weiner family, who own several Dunkin Donuts in town, also donated over 250 pounds of coffee to the project. Shown at the UCC Church, (l-r) Carrie Corliss, Terri Anderson, Roger Bell, John Mitchell, Bill Beyer, Lloyd Rosenberg and John Tuccinardi. (KarwanPhotos.com)
![]() Picking up the turkeys at Shaw's Super Market in Burlington before taking them to The UCC Church. Special thanks are due Steve Duran (front row-left) the manager of Shaw’s. Since Steve started at Shaw's the firm has donated over $8,000.00 worth of turkeys to this annual project. This year Shaw’s stepped up to the plate and increased their donation to cover the extra needs. Not only does Shaw’s donate the turkeys but Steve makes sure that there are plenty of employees to load and unload them andmake things move along as smooth as possible. Please thank Steve Duran when you make your next shopping visit to Shaw’s. Many Burlington Rotarians came early and stayed late to make this project a success. Burlington Rotary President David Morison made sure money was available from Rotary to pay for the extras that were needed and Rev. Peggy Derick of the UCC Church as well as all church and food pantry volunteers did a tremendous job. It takes the great teamwork of many, many people and groups to make this event possible.
