At this club meeting we were priviledged to the Burlington High School Select Singers as our lunch guests. This group of teen aged singers is led by chorus director John Middleton-Cox (front-center) serenaded the club with holiday music and let the Rotarians join them for a few songs.

BURLINGTON-LEXINGTON ROTARY JOINT MEETING

The 39th installment of the Burlington/Lexington Football Rivalry kicks off on Thanksgiving Day in Burlington. Both towns' Rotary Clubs hosted a joint meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Burlington to celebrate this rich tradition.

TURKEY PICKUP DAY

Picking up turkeys at Shaw's Supermarket in Burlington. The birds will be given to needy local families on November 20th along with all the other fixings for a family Thanksgiving Day meal. This annual event is held in conjunction with the Burlington Food Pantry and the Burlington UCC Church. Pictured above are (l-r) Steve Duran. The high school students of the Rotary Interact Club did a fantastic job of turning the day school building at Simonds Park into a haunted house. The weather did not cooperate for most of our planned outside events and we suffered through a cold, rainy and snowy day. Weather notwithstanding, several hundred children and adults attended our Club's second annual Halloween event.

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE FOOD PICKUP

Burlington Rotarians Ethan Solomon, John Mitchell and Bob Hogan unload a van during their food delivery to the Burlington Food Pantry.  Also helping but not pictured was Rotarian Peter Russo.  The Burlington Rotary Club along with Lahey Clinic and the Burlington Community Life Center make monthly deliveries to the Food Pantry from the Greater Boston Food Bank.  The Food Pantry provides food and personal care products to 275 people including over 100 area families.  The Food Pantry is supported by People Helping People, a non-profit providing essential services to community members in need

Our Club sponsored a Special Olympics Softball tournament in Burlington again this year. Teams from 9 towns competed in this annual event. Shown above are some of the players and Rotarians.

Our club has been providing and spreading mulch on the shrub beds at Burlington's Birchcrest Senior Housing facility every Spring for well over twenty years. THANKSGIVING MEALS

Burlington Rotariansgathered at the UCC again this year to help distribute Thanksgiving Day food supplies to families in need. Seen behind the frozen turkey holders are boxes full of more birds. The event was crewed by Burlington Rotarians and UCC congegants. Nearly 150 turkeys plus all the other foods needed to prepare Thanksgiving meals were distributed this day.

Our Club, with an impressive and invaluable amount of help from Burlington Rotary Interact Club students and the cooperation of the town's Recreation Committee staged an event at Simons park the day before Halloween. Featured at this event were a haunted house decorated and staffed by Interact members, trick or treating from the trunks of volunteer's cars, pumpkin painting, a hay bale maze, hands free donut chomping, a huge bonfire and other fun events for children. Pictured above are two Interact students in costume inside the haunted house.
