The installation ceremony of the World Peace and Understanding Bookcase was the culmination of a project three years in the making. It took place on January 11, 2008 at the Burlington High School Library. Our club donated this beautiful bookcase and the books in it. Flatbread Manager, Sean Toomey, and a Burlington Rotary Club member too, pulls a Pizza from the brick oven during an Interact Fundraiser at the Bedford resturant, Interacters, Kyle Stanley (freshman), Tracy DiBona (sophmore) and Conor Murphy, Interact President (senior). Burlington Rotarian Janet Sullivan Fitzpatrick serves dinner to seniors, Dorothy Barron, Brita Flemming and Olive Bruce at the Senior Citizens Valentines Day Dinner Dance. Burlington Rotarian David May (R-back row) joined with his friends Rick Murray and Fred Lonergan and over 300 other hardy souls who took a dip in the 38 degee water at Revere Beach to raise money for Special Olympics of Massachusetts (SOMA). The 2nd annual Fashion Show attracted over 250 attendees who enjoyed an evening eating delicious snacks and deserts, while watching Rotarians and their family members, Interact Club members, and our Club's Burlington Pride Special Olympics Team players strutted their stuff up the runway. Fifty years to the day after our club was issued its charter an anniversary luncheon meeting was held at Burlington's Cafe Escadrille. Construction of our Club's 50th anniversary gift to the Town of Burlington is underway. The gift, a fountain on the Town Common, is scheduled to be dedicated on June 23, 2008. Margaret Dougherty, President of the Wilmington, Massachusetts Rotary Club presents a new gavel to our Club's President John Tuccinardi in celebration of the Burlington Rotary Club's 50th anniversary. Continuing a long standing tradition, our club provided free popcorn and fruit juice drinks to the attendees at one of Burlington's summer evening Dedication of the gift from our Club to to the town. A celebratory cookout was held at Past President Paul Swanfeld's home to honor the Special Olympians sponsored by our Club. Paul is masterfully flipping burger on the grille while other club members look on and arrange the other goodies for the party.
